Le film KANAVAL a remporté le Prix du Public au TIFF et au Festival Cinemania à l’automne 2023 et a été sélectionné dans le TOP TEN CANADA 2023.

Synopsis : Après avoir quitté Haïti, un garçon et sa mère s’installent dans un village rural du Québec où l’enfant compte sur son ami invisible pour comprendre le nouveau monde qui l’entoure. Réalisateur de la mini-série Afro Canada (2022), qui racontait l’histoire du Canada du point de vue des afrodescendant.es, Henri Pardo signe une nouvelle fiction très originale, en partie autobiographique. Lui-même issu d’une famille haïtienne ayant fui la dictature, il a toujours souhaité raconter l’histoire de sa communauté. Mention spéciale à Martin Dubreuil (Le Temps d’un été) qui émeut en père de substitution. Au début des années 1970, après avoir quitté leur ville natale en Haïti, un jeune garçon et sa mère s’installent dans un petit village rural du Québec où le garçon compte sur son ami invisible pour comprendre le nouveau monde qui l’entoure.
Synopsis : After leaving Haiti, a boy and his mother settle in a rural village in Quebec, where the child relies on his imaginary friend to understand the new world around him. Director of the mini-series Afro Canada (2022), which told the story of Canada from the perspective of Afro-descendants, Henri Pardo presents a highly original, partly autobiographical fiction. Himself from a Haitian family that fled the dictatorship, he has always wanted to tell the story of his community. Special mention to Martin Dubreuil (known for One Summer), who touches hearts as a surrogate father.
