Lovers of music all their lives, Nicole Rozon and Jos Binne have explored its many aspects. Nicole has ranged from classical singing to blues while Jos has travelled from folk to the hot rhythms of salsa. Out of the immediate complicity these two musicians felt at their first meeting in June 2008, the duo L'Heure Bleue was born. Experimenting with the classics and little-known repertoire of Spanish and francophone songs, they blend French and Latin accents to create a subtle and sensitive repertoire. Like a wave, L'heure bleue wafts us into that moment when we stop to listen, to hear a tale, to share our secrets.

“Only the hand”

Saturday Feb. 14, 2009 :

Only the hand” – emerged from a live performance featuring the live animation of Pierre Hébert and an accompanying soundtrack by laptop musician Stefan Smulovitz. Pierre has performed the piece around the world including in Lebanon and Italy.

This is the first time they will perform the piece again with the exciting addition of vocalist Viviane Houle.

Pierre Hébert is the recipient of the Albert-Tessier award for his remarkable career as one Quebec’s most singular filmmakers.

Pierre Hébert was strongly influenced by animation film makers Norman McLaren and Len Lye. He was first known for his abstract experimental films dealing with perception phenomena and the animation technique of engraving images directly on 16mm or 35mm processed black film. He did the animated feature film La Plante humaine. Socially and politically involved, his work grew out of interdisciplinary projects, live performances, "live" animation.

Teaching animation in various universities and writing for cinema and art magazines, he published an essay about his work and has received the Albert-Tessier Award for life time achievement.

Viviane and Stefan perform extensively together, conjuring visions of beauty and chaos.
