Planet Yoga

planet_yoga

Yoga is the strongest growing spiritual practice in the world. Yoga terms like karma, chakra, reincarnation, and meditation—even the famous “Om” sound—are now part of our vocabulary. Planet Yoga takes us across three continents to discover exciting peoples with unusual and profound quests, all associated with yoga and its vibrant culture. Their experiences help us understand the popularity of this eastern asceticism, one that western culture has adapted and integrated, revealing a thirst for meaning prevalent in this new millenium. With a keen yet joyful eye, the movie takes us at the heart of an internal and external journey, full of contrasts and colours, somewhere between the East and the West.

LUCIE LAMBERT -HER WORSHKOP STARTS at 10:00 am

Lucie Lambert is certified Sundo teacher based in Vancouver. She joined the Sundo community in 1988, worked her way through the levels, started instructing in 1994 and became a teacher in 2007. Since then she has taught at all levels and has brought students up from being beginners to having black belts in Sundo practice. Among her other distinctions in the field, she was invited to be a presenter at the International Sundo Conference held in Korea in 2008.

ABOUT SUNDO:

KOUK  SUNDO

Kouk Sundo was established by ancesters who truly believed in worshiping the law of universe and in receiving "ki" energy into their body and mind, which was handed down by grand master Chungsan. Kouk Sundo also bears origins of our nation and history. Thus, Kouksundo means "way of receiving light ", "universal rotation of light in oneself".

The purpose of Sundo breathing is to consolidate the physical breathing with the mind and to link this process into the unified movement of yin and yang - the dynamic process of opposites from which all life springs. Through this breathing, one can release negative energy from the body and receive healthy energy from the universe, thus purifying the body.

The practise of Sundo involves lower abdominal breathing along with special postures. The breathing practice improves and revitalizes the autonomic nervous system and the self healing restorative forces of our body. This helps the body fight diseases naturally from within. Continuous lifetime traing results in genuine health of body and mind. Moreover, Sundo has nothing to do with religion. It does not promote any religious position or faith. Therefore, regardless of religion or faith, anyone can practice and enjoy the benefits of Sundo.

Benefits

Sundo is a great and convenient exercise that can be performed anywhere and at any time. Since Sundo is intended to relax the body and mind, all of it's movements and breathing exercises are low-impact and less strenuous then other forms of exercise.
Sundo's exercise will increase the body's circulation and oxygen supply. Sundo will increase the body's stamina and boost the immune system to help you recover from fatigue and expel toxic elements from the body more quickly. Sundo can also help the body fight illnesses common to adults such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and cirrhosis of the liver. People have also noticed improvement in their skin complexion and that they are able to get a deeper and more restful sleep at night. Perhaps most importantly, Sundo will help you manage stress better and lead to a more relaxed and energized life.

The system

1. Preparatory exercise 15 min - You will learn how to move the body in order to channel the body's energy flow from the extremities to the center and from the center back out to the extremities. This will increase bodily circulation.

2. Abdomen energy practice. 40 min. - Through approximately  different postures, you will learn how to breath from the abdomen. This breathing creates, increases, and strengthens the body's energy.

3. Closing exercises. 20 min. - The body's muscles and nervous system are trained in this phase. You will learn how to distribute the energy accumulated during the previous phase to the rest of the body.
